Inventory and stocktakes
A stocktake is a physical count of all the stock in your shop, compared against the stock levels in your records. It reveals shrinkage, damaged or missing items and counting errors, so your stock figures, reorders and profit reports stay accurate. Retailers often do a full stocktake once a year, with partial counts of selected items in between.
RetailManager supports full stocktakes, partial stocktakes of selected stock and single-item counts. You can also count stock with RM-Mobile by scanning barcodes with a phone or tablet camera, which speeds up counting on the shop floor.

Set a minimum stock level for each item so RetailManager prompts you about stock that needs ordering, and check the What Needs Ordering report before you buy. Put a barcode on every item to avoid keying errors, do regular stocktakes, and review your sales reports to see which products sell and which tie up cash.
